This customer was keen to do a lot of research into all kinds of 'green' energy efficient heating systems for the compact chalet that he was building to downsize ready for his retirement.

After helping him to consider all the options, and with a very limited utility space to work with, the decision was made to fit a Viessmann Vitodens 343 Compact Energy Tower which contains a 13kw gas boiler with a 250 litre cylinder. This system includes weather compensation controls as standard. This has been connected to Viessmann solar tubes to provide the majority of the domestic hot water with the gas boiler as back up.

The chalet had Henco underfloor heating installed downstairs using Gyvlon screed and four radiators upstairs. This house was insulated above current regulations and also had a heat recovery system (not installed by R A Brown) and a membrane fitted to make the house airtight and triple glazing.
