Air Source Heat Pumps |

This is a real growth area at the moment with technologies that have been used for many years in Scandinavia becoming more widely used in the UK. Why choose a renewable energy heating system such as a heat pump? You can significantly reduce your reliance on carbon based fuels, which are not environmentally friendly. To some people an even more pressing concern is the worrying price increases and rapid fluctuations of non-renewable energy sources which leave consumers unsure of their heating costs from one winter to the next. Many people reliant on oil are seriously considering this option. An air source heat pump runs on electricity. It has a fan to draw in the air and uses 1kw of energy to produce approximately 4kw of heating energy, you therefore see efficiency claims stating that an air source heat pump is between 250 and 400% efficient. This is because a heat pump is converting energy (originally from the sun) rather than burning fuel. How does an air source heat pump work? This system draws in air at its ambient temperature and compresses the heat from it. The heat is then used to heat water in a buffer cylinder(s) and this is then used in the same way as heat produced by a boiler to heat your underfloor heating, radiators and hot water. The system is run by sensitive intelligent modern controls set up to suit your house and lifestyle. Exhaust air source heat pump A different variation of the air source pumps, suitable for small apartments, is the exhaust air source heat pump. The unit for this is sited internally and is similar in size to a tall fridge freezer. This system enables the customer to re-use the heat by having ducting to areas such as the kitchen and bathroom. The unit also clears these areas of cooking fumes and steam. This type of system is being used in new build social housing being built by forward thinking councils/housing associations. R A Brown installed these types of NIBE units in such a project in Harleston for South Norfolk Council. Why choose R A Brown to supply and install your new heat pump system? We have a long history of designing and supplying modern heating. We have always focused on the best options for customers in terms of efficiency, comfort and value over the past twenty years. For example we have been designing and supplying underfloor heating for around fifteen years. Over the past few years we have turned our attention to supplying and installing heat pumps. As an independent company we can provide impartial advice, sourcing products that we really believe to be the best on the market. Our aim is to provide you with an efficient, cost effective heating system using whatever modern heating methods are appropriate - we won't try to sell you an air source heat pump if that isn't the best option for you. |
